Why Photography?

As you can see I have not posted one single thing on my blog in a year! Not because I haven't been taking pictures because I have and I have so many new pictures to share with you, but not today.......well maybe a few, but there will be much more to come.

I had the opportunity to take pictures for the parade of homes this year (thank you husband) and I had to come up with an ad..........um talk about scarrrrrryyyyy!

I have never done anything like this before and it took me a long time to convince myself that I could do it. I had to stop and think about the real reason I take pictures and why I love photography.

It all started because my BEAUTIFUL and TALENTED friend Kellee sold me her old Fuji and I tagged along on her shoots with her so I could learn how to use the thing. I loved every minute of it! Lucky for me her candid photographer was having a baby and she needed to hire a new one. She hired me and took me under her wing and taught me so much. For that I am forever and ever grateful!

She is BEAUTIFUL!

She recently had a beautiful baby and is taking a little bit of a break from Wedding Photography. It has been an exciting little change for me. I miss hanging out with her as much, but I love going out and trying new things and finding new locations. My friends tease me because everywhere we go I am always on the look-out for fun and exciting places to shoot!

I love capturing life moments! I love the candid feel of my photography sessions. I love watching the little ones try so hard to sit still and do what they are supposed to, but when they walk away I love capturing their face because they did walk away. My favorite picture of my Kids is one that Kellee took for us. My little Kody wouldn't stay! We would sit him down and he would get up and walk away as fast as he could. I will always remember that moment.

Little Stinker!

I think Photography should be fun! I think pictures aren't meant to be perfect! I think husbands should remind their wives that it is time for new pictures! I think everyone should have at least one silly picture of them hanging around somewhere! I think photography is important whether you are a professional or a point and shooter! I think maybe I think too much!

So I will try to be better about posting on my blog, but don't hold your breath! I want to share with you from time to time my favorite Moment of each session.
Some may be beautiful,
Some may be silly,
but each Moment will be Cherished!

This was so much fun! My niece and her friends wanted to do a photo - shoot so we headed out and had the best time! They were so easy to take pictures of. All I had to do was say "change" and they just worked the poses like pros!!!! What a fun memory to have with your friends. Thanks girls - YOU ROCK!

I was so excited for April and Ryan's Wedding. What a great excuse to spend a couple days with family and friends! I was able to see friends that I haven't seen in years and relatives the same! Thank goodness for weddings! They bring us all together. April and Ryan had so many people come support them. Congratulations and I wish you a very long and Happy life together!

You know you are getting old when.......The little babies you used to babysit are getting married. Chris just lived through the block from me growing up. We had lots of good times together...... he just doesn't remember! I used to babysit him when he was little. His mom was my YW leader and she was a blast! You probably remember Cailee - she was my very first senior shoot! She is still as beautiful as the first time around! Now she has something way more exciting to smile about! Congratulations you two and good luck!

Thanks to the Man who's door we knocked on to see if we could use his FUN barn!

Kellee's sister Shellee set up this most amazing shoot in Vegas for us while we were there for WPPI. Thanks Shellee! We had such a blast! I met lots of very cool photographers and ran in to cousins and friends that I had no idea were going to be there! What a fun surprise! I am already counting down the months until next year's trip.

Wedding Showcase

As I have said many times before "there are some perks" that come along with working with (MBK) Momnets by Kellee Photography. Helping her with the Bridal Fair is one of them. This is such a fun place to meet new brides and jump start the Wedding Season! Here is a must go....

WEDDING SHOWCASE – SATURDAY FROM 12:00-7:00
WEDDING SHOWCASE WORKSHOP – FRIDAY 5:30-8:30

This weekend we will be at the Wedding Showcase. If you are getting married this year it is a DO NOT MISS event. Kellee is giving away some amazing things so come and visit our booth on Saturday! We are so excited.

ALSO, there is a workshop for brides on Friday. It begins at 5:30 pm and will go until 7:30. There are 4 wedding professionals speaking at the workshop and it should be filled with great information. Kellee will be addressing the brides about the things that they can do to make their pictures spectacular. The workshop will be held on the second floor of Castle Manor. Beyond hearing the speakers, there will also be some vendors there with displays and some yummy food!

TO REGISTER FOR THE EVENT GO TO http://www.weddingshowcase.blogspot.com/. It is a FREE event to those who pre-register.

Following the workshop there will be a reception from 7:30-8:30 where you can speak to all of the wedding professionals that will be at the show the following day.

The Wedding Showcase Vendors are giving away some really great door prizes for you to win, and The Wedding Showcase will be giving away one of their wedding packages exclusively to a bride who is attending the workshop. The drawing will be on Saturday for that wedding, but only the brides attending the workshop can enter. AWESOME!

Kasi and Daniel

So this is how far behind on posting I am. Back in November - yes November - Kasi and Daniel got married. While I was home for Thanksgiving I got to take pictures of their wedding day. They were so happy and it was such a beautiful day.
This really tells you how old I am getting. I used to babysit her and her older brother all the time. She doesn't remember me babysitting her because she was a BABY! Now she is married and her older brother HAS a BABY! Their mom Tami was my dance teacher and they were in my home ward growing up. Thank you so much for asking me to take your pictures. Kellee's new Studio

If you don't know - Kellee has opened a studio space in her home. I was one of the lucky ones to be able to get pictures before Christmas!! The perks of being an employee of MBK! I had such a fun time looking through these pictures! I giggled and laughed out loud at some of the expressions she captured! So FUN! I have lots of projects in the works before Christmas comes! I have been taking pictures, making Christmas cards (for others - i might get one out of my own before Christmas), editing like crazy. This week be watching for two family sessions, a wedding, and hopefully my kids pictures from Kellee's new studio! Here is a sneak peek at a family session.

What a family! They were so easy to work with and lots of fun to be around! Look - I wore them right out!

We had our last family picture. It was before my youngest brother went on his mission. I was pregnant with Rylee; Stephanie, Shane or Richard were not married. Since then wow has our family grown . Now everyone is married, we have 9 more grandchildren and one on the way...that we know of right now...hopefully more soon! I love my family and am so thankful for every one of them. We were all able to be together this year for Thanksgiving with the exception of our sweet nephew Kyler who spent Thanksgiving with his mom this year. Maybe I will try to see how I can photoshop him in there somewhere. Anyway this is our big beautiful family (if I do say so myself)! Pretty good for as many people that were supposed to be looking at one little camera!

While I was In Wyoming the first part of October over UEA I was able to take some pictures of my cousins Kurtis - who is graduating this year - and Holly. I had so much fun. I would tell Kurtis to stand a certain way and he would turn it on for the camera. Smile, serious, look away, laugh....I love his serious face. I asked him what he was going to be when he grew up and he told me he would seriously consider becoming a model. I think he liked getting his picture taken. Thanks you two for letting me take your pictures. I had such a fun time!!

I love to see the Temple

This is my "Sista from anotha Mista" Heidi - and her Family. Her youngest - Boston - Did not want her picture taken. No amount of bribing worked. All she wanted to do was show me how pretty her unders were. I have to admit they were pretty cute. Maybe next year Heidi! I think they turned out great anyway! Hope you like them.

YES - The Danielson Family - Such great sports!
Barbara wanted a picture in their Barley Field before they cut it. Right as the sun was setting we snapped a few shots and I love how they turned out. I had a little "friend" running by my feet the whole time, but I kept cool because the kids were already nervous of snakes being out there. I think my "friend was just a mouse. (i hope:)

The Atwood Family

We have two sets of Atwoods in our neighborhood. This is the Lance and Deon Atwood family. I was able to do their son Tanner's senior pictures and their family pictures all in one session. What a good looking bunch of boys they had. It takes a strong woman to live in a house full of this! They were great to work with and I finally got some laughs out of them at the end. Thanks for being such a great family and letting me take your pictures.

This is the Danielson Family. They were so kind to be my very first subjects without the supervision of my great teacher and mentor - Kellee Smith with Moments by Kellee Photography. Well - I was able to get a RE-DO! Yes I was by myself again (they are so trusting). So here is a look at one of the first photos.

I had the hardest time getting Barbara to look at the camera. I thought it would be the kids, but I was wrong. HEE, HEE, HEE.

Why is it always so much harder to take pictures of your own family than of other people. Is it because they don't listen to you?? YES. Is it because I am not as funny to my own children?? Kody would say" Not Funny Mom". Well, I guess I will have to try again, but for now this is what I got.

Becky will be so happy I finally got these done for her. It is so sad that Family gets put on the end of the list. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Becky has 3 girls and now a Beautiful Baby Boy. When she told me what they were thinking of naming him I was a little nervous, but after seeing and holding him, the name fits him perfectly. It's funny how people come back into your life. Shayane was in my YW class when I lived in Avon. I remember her as a 14 year old little girl and now look at her. Absolutely georgous! I am so happy she and Josh found each other. They just go together. We lucked out and didn't get snowed on today. I love how these turned out and I had a great time getting to know a little more about Shayane and Josh. I think he is her Knight in Shining Armor. I am so happy for them.

Finally!! I had 5 minutes to sit down and get these done. It was such a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the ceremony was beautiful, and Katie and Richard looked SO HAPPY!! It was fun to be on both sides of the event. It was hard for me to pick out my favorites because I love these two so much. They were so much fun to work with and I had such a fun time!!!! We had such a fun day with Katie and Richard. Katie kept telling me that we were so silly because every time we had an amazing shot Kellee and I would make weird noises to each other. Are you so excited to see some pictures from VEGAS!!! We had such a great time. WOW so much information in this little brain of mine. I learned and saw and experienced more than I ever thought possible in such a short amount of time. These pictures were taken at the Red Rocks in Las Vegas. One of my NEW Photographer friends - Ryan Christenson of Innovative Photography -set up this event. Such a beautiful place and such AMAZING models. Thanks for deciding to go and taking me Kellee! What an experience.

This has to be - by far- my most favorite shoot ever!! A few months back we went to Vegas to the sign graveyard and took Terra's Bridals. We had such a great time and I learned so much working with Kellee and her sister Shellee. Terra was so spunky and sassy and willing to do whatever to make this different than anything she had seen. Terra was our Montana Bride so keep checking back for wedding pictures. We get to go back to Vegas the middle of the month for a convention and I am so excited!! Kellee says it will be LIFE CHANGING!! We all need that right!!

Candy Girls!!

I am sure you all have heard me talk about the Montana Wedding that we did at the beginning of the month. Well, here are some fun candids we took of ourselves after the wedding. This was the most amazing candy store EVER!!! We each filled up a bag and I got the most DIVINE carmel and chocolate covered pretzel. I gave Megan ONE bite because I felt bad that I was eating such a wonderful thing in front of a pregnant girly! LOL!! Kellee used the excuse she was "sick", but I know why she didn't share after I took my first bite!!

My friend Nikki asked me to take a couple of pictures of her baby Daxton. What a cutie he was. He wouldn't sit so we took some of him on a little rocking horse. He thought it would be better to eat the horse than ride it. This is my favorite. Aren't his eyes amazing!!

Cailee came all the way from Burlington Wyoming because she wanted something fresh and exciting. I had a hard time picking ones to go on the blog because I liked so many of them.
